Part 2: How to Provide Tech Support With Soluto

Once you’ve rolled Soluto out onto the PCs you manage, you can get back to business. Our goal is to keep everything simple and to minimize the need for actual remote sessions.  We’re constantly working on new features to add to the list of actions you can take to support PCs without remote access.  We’re in the cloud so we’ve provided our users with the ability to support PCs from any browser, anytime, even when they’re off.

We’re in the cloud, work when you want to

Soluto is cloud-based and offline. Cloud-based means you can access Soluto from every device that has a browser and even conduct a remote access session if necessary. Offline means you can take actions on PCs even when they are shut down. Once you’ve rolled Soluto out onto the PCs you manage, you can get back to business.

Asset Management

Your Soluto dashboard provides an overview of all the PCs you support, letting you know exactly how much power they are consuming, how much storage they have available, and how much time is wasted in boot.

Update, Install and Setup Apps

Soluto allows you to remotely install and update apps, and since we’re in the cloud – the PC you manage can be off – it’ll magically happen when it turns on. These apps include Skype and Dropbox where you can even set the person you support up with a new use. In addition, you can install many other useful apps on the PCs you manage, such as PDF Creator, Adobe Reader, iTunes and even Google Earth. You can also update those pesky apps that constantly need updating like Adobe Flash and Java. All with just one click.

Cut Boot Time

Choose which background apps you want to delay from boot or remove from boot entirely and see exactly how much time your changes will save the people you support with every boot.  With just a few clicks you can shorten the boot time of the PCs you support.

Quick Question Tool

Soluto aims to make communications between you and the people you support easier and more effective by providing both sides with tools to properly communicate with each other.  Quick Question allows the people you support to easily ask for help with a PC issue. As soon as the person you support with Soluto experiences an issue with their PC, they can simply hit F8, type their question into the card that appears on their screen and click send.

F8 for quick questions

An email will be sent to you with the question along with a screenshot, a list of running processes, and the resources they consume.

Email with question

If you find that the people you support are using the F8 key for other purposes, you can disable the key as your Quick Question shortcut. Simply click on the Soluto icon in your tray, right click, choose advanced, and uncheck “Enable Quick Question Shortcut F8″.

Proactive IT

Soluto can detect computer problems and end-user frustrations and push this information proactively to you, the IT pro. In most cases you don’t need to check the status of managed PCs. When something goes wrong, Soluto lets you know via email. You can easily update apps, cut boot time, configure browsers, defrag and clean hard-drives and more. Simply click the action button in the email itself to resolve the issue in a second from your email client or even your mobile phone.

Remote Access

Soluto allows you to proactively support PCs without the need for remote access sessions. However sometimes remote access is unavoidable and that’s why you can use Soluto to remote access all of the PCs you manage from any browser. Simply login to Soluto, browse to the PC you need to remote access and click on “Start Remote Access”.  Once the user approves your remote access session you’re in.
